It reminded me of the two brothers in the Japanese anime Inuyasha犬夜叉? Their father left them each a sword. Elder brother is angry and hostile, yet he was given a sword which cannot kill but save life. Younger son is nice and weaker but given a sword which is strong and kill, thus protect people by removing bad monsters.
